Amanda, international champion

12-02-2025

The support of the school has enabled me to achieve my sporting and academic goals

Since the age of six, Amanda, a Year 10 C student at Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Peñalolén, has dedicated her life to artistic roller skating, a discipline that has taken her to competitions across a range of national and international stages. Her most recent achievement established her as the American inter-club champion in Orlando, United States, where she was awarded the gold medal.

A journey of effort and perseverance

Throughout her sporting career, Amanda has taken part in competitions in San Antonio, Santiago, Concepción and, more recently, abroad. Her goal is clear: to represent Chile in South American and Pan American championships. Although artistic roller skating is not an Olympic sport, her ambition is to continue reaching new milestones at international level.

The support of her family has played a fundamental role in her development as an athlete. “They are very proud of my achievements and have always supported me. They take me to training, accompany me to every competition and provide everything I need to keep moving forward,” Amanda explains.

The school’s support in her sporting journey

Balancing a high-performance sporting career with academic studies is no easy task. However, thanks to the support of CPV Peñalolén, Amanda has been able to manage both responsibilities successfully. “At first, it was difficult to secure support, but with the help of two teachers we were able to arrange the flexibility I needed from the school. Now I can reschedule a test if it falls on the same date as a competition, which has allowed me to focus more effectively and improve my grades,” she says.

The school has also granted her special permission to attend training sessions and tournaments, supporting her progress both academically and athletically. “My teachers have given me advice and have been key throughout this process. In addition, two classmates in particular have supported me greatly and encouraged me to continue in this demanding sport,” Amanda adds.

Values that have led her to success

For Amanda, responsibility and perseverance have been essential to her growth. “The path in sport is difficult because it involves many sacrifices. But if you work hard and do not give up, everything is rewarded in the end,” she reflects.

To classmates who dream of pursuing sport, her message is clear: “Never give up. There will always be challenges, but if you are persistent, you will go very far.”

At CPV Peñalolén, we are proud of Amanda and of all our students who, through commitment and passion, represent our values both inside and outside the classroom. Our high-performance athletes will continue to receive the support and opportunities they need to keep pursuing their ambitions.
