On Tuesday 20 May, Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Peñalolén enjoyed a truly memorable day, with bilingualism and English language proficiency at the centre of the experience. Students from Year 3 to Year 7 took part in the school’s internal Spelling Bee competitions, demonstrating not only a strong academic standard, but also highly developed listening and speaking skills. Each year group had its own competition, and the enthusiasm was so remarkable that the events ran longer than expected. The reason was simple: the exceptional standard of the participants required increasingly challenging words, leading to the final winners. A true celebration of the English language unfolded, with our students performing with confidence, fluency and precision. At our school, bilingualism is nurtured from the early years as a key foundation for our students’ academic, social and cultural development. Activities such as the Spelling Bee reflect this commitment, making English learning active, engaging and meaningful. Great pride is felt for every student who took part in this valuable educational experience, and especially for the winners of each year group, who will represent CPV Peñalolén in the prestigious Spelling Bee competitions organised by the English Speaking Union in 2025. At CPV Peñalolén, English is far more than a subject: it is a gateway to the world and an opportunity for our students to fulfil their potential in a learning environment defined by excellence and wellbeing.
